Default Your thoughts on WoW?

With over 1000+ hours of GW played, I'm getting tired. Many reasons come to mind, but I can't be bothered to explain.

So now, anyone here already played WoW (for more than a week)? I'm mainly interested in PvE play (for starters) and I wonder what similarities/differences it has with GW?

if u hav LOTS of spare time on ur hands and like to grind a few lvls and mine and make heaps of stuff just to take ur profession lvl one higher then its the game for u. i just play with a different class as soon as i reach lvl 16 (gets boring for me). the good stuff comes after ur lvl 20 thats wat my friends tell me. and theres HEAPS more walking in WoW than GW.

Are you able to solo alot in the game? And how do you gain levels? By getting Xp? If so, how do you get XP? I'm not sure what you call me, but once I like a game, I pretty much play it alone until I'm bored to death with it. GW took over 1000 hours, C&C Zero Hour took about 6 Months, UT2003 took about a year, so I don't really mind taking a lot of time just leveling up as long as there's stuff to do (such as quests and lots of challenges, like UW/FoW).

u gain lvl by getting xp through quests and killing monsters. u can usually kill monster up to 2or 3 lvls higher than u one on one, 2 or more on u is suicide.
my friend solos caves with lvl 25-28 monsters and hes lvl 33 now so it gets easy when u reach a higher lvl but it takes time to lvl up that much. there are heaps of fun quests, u find more rare weapons the more u lvl up, the trading in that game is better than gw IMO and theres nowhere near as much spamming in that game.

Are people more mentally competant in WoW? Also, at what level difference do lower monsters not give XP (like in GW, at level 20, you don't gain XP from level 14 or 15 monsters and such)? And how is armor acquired? Do you have to unlock new cities/outpost to get better armor?

i dont know wat mentally competent means. about the lvl difference for monster not giving xp anymore, my friend has a lvl 33 character and monsters 25 lvls below him give him 0xp. u can get armor by either making it urself(blacksmith profession), buying from auction house, and u can get it from merchants. and there are special armors where u need different pieces and link em together to be able to use em but thats in the higher levels.
keep the questions coming, im liking this.

What I meant by "mentally competant" was people that don't run into battle and say "DUNT WRY GUYZ I CAN TAK ON DEEZ LVL 150 ENEMIS BY MSELF" then when they die "WTF Y RNT I GETTING HEELED? REZ ME QUIK".
Also, are there any large cities (like Lion's), outposts (like Beetletun) or mission-only cities (Like D'Allesio) in there?
Also, do all types of armor work for every profession?
What about customisation? Can you customize stuff to get a certain bonus off of it?
Another thing I noticed were the screen caps with like 100 small boxes. Do each of those represent a skill or what?
How are weapons divided? Can anyone use any weapon or is there a certain requirement for it?

there are 2 big cities where all the shops for everything are. theres inns, auction houses, griffon riders, bank, trainers for different classes and professions, and everything else. those towns are Ironforge(alliance) and orgrimmar(horde). there are other towns and outposts with some shops and inns. the monsters in this game are hard except if u verse something like 2 lvls lower than u. i dont know about mission only type towns, but there are teleports called instances that take u to some place and u hav to do quests in that area. usually elite monsters (hard) are found there and u need to go with a group. all tyoes of armor dont work on everyone. warriors can wear almost any type of armor, monks however can only wear cloth and leather i think, casters wear leather armors and cloth armors. u can customise weapons by getting an enchanter to enchant ur weapon to add a bonus like +2 dmg to beastslaying (it also makes ur weapon glow red). most weapons u find already hav bonuses like +3 stamina and +2 strength. theres HEAPS of different bonuses u can put on a weapon and armors.yeh the boxes represent ur skills. there are 6 sets of 10 boxes. u can put potion icon in it so u just click it and it takes a potion from ur inventory and heals u. itslike the gw skill bar but with more slots. u hav to pay money to train a certain type of weaopn. u start with some weapons already trained on u but if u want a different type u hav to go to a weapontrainer in ironforge or orgirmmar and buy it. weapons req a certain character lvl to be able to use it.( like lvl 20 or lvl 15). and i havent met any ppl that rush to monsters thinking theyre a hero or watever.

u can talk to innkeepers and makethat inn ur "home". by doing that u can teleport to that area whenever u want by using a special stone called the hearthstone. u can use it every 30 mins. also u can fly to differnt towns by talking to a griffon trainer and choosing where u wanna go( u hav to hav explored the town and talk to that towns griffon trainer before u can fly from that town to another connecting town). or u can just walk . later in the game u buy mounts which are like fast transport. they are really expensive but are very fast for travelling vast distances. andfor the griffon rides u hav to pay for each flight.

There is a wholly plausible opinion, grounded in factual representation and thoughtful analysis.

LOL.

Hmm, let me see:

I play Wow. My warrior is level 37, and my rogue is level 56. No, I do not play 8 hours a day, and in fact average about 2 -3 per 2 days. I run my own guild/clan thing, and it runs smoothly. Asshats in this game are a rare sight on my server (elune). I find the quests to be WORTH something in terms of reward, rather than "seeds" or "a shield with a name". I often get paid money AND an item for quests.

The player-run auction house is truly badass. I make most of my upgrade income just selling the items that I craft and put up in there. You can find mats for your crafting in the ah, which makes killing monsters for "leather and stuff" less of a migraine.

Travel is pretty expensive if you fly all over the planet alot, but if you map out your plan ahead, its not that bad.

Once more, asshats in this game are rare, and will almost ALWAYS be of the opposing faction (i'm horde, meaning orcs, undead etc, so that means most humans, midgets and whatnot are assholes out of principle). If you speak to opposing faction players, they see gibberish, and vice versa, unless you learn their native tongues (way into the game and such).

The drop rate for things is really high for me, but that may by my server alone, I cannot be sure.

When I kill a monster, if I have been logged out or not playing for a while in town, I get 3 times the xp from normal, for a short time, which is based on how long you were at rest, proportionally.

Party play with others usually is ok, and you can set loot conditions, unlike gw.

There is more to the game than the pvp obsession. You gain honor rank points for honorable kills, up to sargeant and beyond, which will be on your player name for all to see (there are other LEGAL ways of gaining those, if you wanna know, pm me *grin*).

Your character truly begins to look more badass as your level up increases.

The ability to craft your own armor and weapons is pretty damn cool to me, I usually make my upgrade set on my smithy, then swap to my enchanter, add enchantments to my gear, then mail it all back to myself. Which means upon inspection of my avatar by another character, it shows im fully decked out in handmade gear, which tickles me silly.

The rare items in the game, unlike the gw yellows? those things truly SMITE ASS. If you sell one, expect to be wealtky for a while. If you actually keep and use it, expect to be a butter knife to mobs.

The pvp is fun because, well on my server at least, you cannot be attacked by others unless yo type /pvp in the console, or bitchslap a avatar marked PVP. Meaning after 5 mins of non fighting in friendly towns, it goes off, meaning you can really irritate the bad guys

Duels are allowed anywhere if you wish it, and losing doesnt kill you, but it tells everyone in the region you kicked someone's ass or vice versa.

Events are a treat, like halloween, they had a large burning straw man outside of the undead capital city, and handed out buffs from the sky. it was good fun. And right now in town, you can bob for apples, and use those as healing kits in battle. LOL

There really is so much to the game, beyond my obvious interest, that it would take me pages of thread to go into it, ill cap off with this:

It is a complete, living world, and in addition to your main 2 professions that are allowed at one time, you can learn fishing, first aid, and others. These can be unlearned and relearned at will, making the possibilities for your character beyond comprehension.

You will RARELY, if ever, in this game, see the same looking person twice.

One common myth of World of Warcraft is that it's a grindfest.

It isn't. World of Warcraft if a completely soloable MMORPG from level 1 to 60, it doesn't even take all that much time if you set your mind to it. You don't even have to be all that good at the game to get there. The only real thing that would make it difficult is playing Horde on one of the many unbalanced PvP servers. Though, I don't see how gratifying randomly having some level 60 pop out of nowhere and kick you in the nuts while fighting a monster could be. Otherwise, if you're in it for a pure PvE experiences there's only really one word (despite utterly hating it) appropriate to describe it: Carebear.

This unfortunately gives World of Warcraft a case similiar to Guild Wars. People get to end game with the false belief that they actually know what the Hell they are doing.

LOL.

I have to be honest though, when the level cap goes up to 75 post-expansion, that will renew the game for those that feel that way. Blizzcon is going to be interesting
